The commission, appointed by Governor Huntsman, was set up after it was determined that Utah is facing a crisis with respect to democratic participation. In 2006, Utah had the lowest voter turnout in the country and nearly the lowest participation in 2008, despite a long history of stellar democratic participation.
Additional information about the Governor’s Commission can be found at www.strengthendemocracy.org.
